Agreement

These terms are between you and Aditya Bhatia, Beim Brinkmannschen Park 18, 21079 Hamburg, Germany ("we"). By downloading or using Screeny, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Screeny is distributed through Apple's App Store, so Apple'sStandard End User License Agreement also applies. Where it and these terms cover the same thing, Apple's agreement governs your license to use the app.

What Screeny does

Screeny helps you restrict access to apps on your own device using Apple's Screen Time frameworks, triggered by a schedule, a usage limit, or scanning a physical NFC tag, QR code, or barcode you choose. You are always in control of what gets locked and how.

Screeny depends on iOS and Screen Time. If you take away Screeny's Screen Time permission, turn off Screen Time, or iOS changes how these frameworks work, locks can stop working. Screeny is a tool to help you, not a guarantee that an app can never be opened.

Your responsibility

You're responsible for choosing what to lock and for keeping track of your own keys. If you lose a key or need everything open, the weekly pass in Settings unlocks everything once a week. Outside of that, locks stay on by design; that's the feature working as intended.

Purchases and subscriptions

Some features may need a purchase. Purchases are made in the app through Apple's App Store and charged to your Apple ID. The price, and for a subscription its length, is shown before you confirm.

• A subscription renews automatically at the same price and length unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can manage or cancel it at any time in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple ID, Subscriptions.
• If a free trial is offered, it turns into a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its rules, atreportaproblem.apple.com. Your statutory rights stay unaffected.
• On a new phone, use Restore purchases in Screeny's Settings with the same Apple ID.

Free lifetime access for early supporters

Everyone whose Apple ID first downloaded Screeny on or before 30 November 2026 gets every paid feature of Screeny for free, for as long as we offer Screeny on the App Store, with no subscription and no purchase. This is tied to the Apple ID that made that first download and carries over to reinstalls and new devices that use the same Apple ID. Apple's record of the first download decides. People who tested Screeny through TestFlight get the same, once they download it from the App Store with the same Apple ID by that date.

Warranty

We work hard to make Screeny reliable, but we can't promise it will always work without interruption or errors, and we only promise what is described in the app and on this site. Your statutory rights, including the legal warranty for digital products, stay unaffected.

Limitation of liability

We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and where we have given a guarantee.

For slight negligence we are liable only if we breach an essential obligation, meaning one that makes the proper use of Screeny possible in the first place and that you may normally rely on. In that case our liability is limited to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for this kind of agreement. Otherwise we are not liable for slight negligence.

Changes to Screeny or these terms

We may update the app or these terms over time. Material changes will be called out in App Store release notes and here, with a new date at the top.

Governing law

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you use Screeny as a consumer and live in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of that country.
